Additionally, nintedanib has been reported to slow the progression of the disease and possibly improve lung function. Nintedanib is also used to treat advanced kidney cancer. By targeting these proteins or pathways, nintedanib can help to slow or stop the growth and spread of cancer cells.

Nintedanib has been shown to be an effective therapy for people with with IPF and SSc-ILD. It has also been shown to slow the progression of the diseases and improve some of the symptoms associated with them.

Nintedanib was the first drug approved by the FDA specifically for the treatment of both IPF and SSc-ILD.

Nintedanib is currently being investigated as a potential treatment for COPD and cystic fibrosis. Clinical trials are ongoing and results from study are yet to be released.
